One little-known fact is that the original city plan of Baguio was modelled by Architect Daniel Burnham after that of Washington D.C. The city derives its name from bagyiw, an Ibaloi word for a moss that grew in the mountains' damp swampy areas.

Baguio City is approximately 250 kms. north of Manila in the heart of the highland province of Benguet. Baguio is accessible by land and air from Manila. It can be reached via 3 spectacular winding roads; Marcos Highway, Naguillan Road and Kennon Road. Travel time is four 4 hours by car from Manila, 45 minutes by plane and 5-6 hours by bus.
